Nero d'Avola

/NEH-roh dah-VOH-lah/

Nero d'Avola is Sicily's most important red grape. Away from Mount Etna it is generous, ripe, and softly structured with plush dark fruit. On Etna's volcanic slopes it becomes dramatically different — pale, aromatic, structured, and mineral, sometimes compared to great Nebbiolo.
